Ameren
Ameren will provide grants for utility bill payment assistance to help customers facing a hardship situation.

AmerenCIPS, AmerenCILCO
Receive energy bill help from Dollar More, which will pay for home energy bills including gas, electric, oil and propane. Another charity program is Warm Neighbors, which provides heating bill assistance and free weatherization services to qualifying customers. Cash grants are available for those in danger of losing their primary heating source.
Atmos Energy
Sharing the Warmth is a program funded by customers, and their donations combined with company donations help people in Illinois pay their gas and heating bills.
Center for Economic Progress
The Center for Economic Progress increases economic opportunities for lower income Illinois families, children, and individuals by improving their access to public, private, and nonprofit education programs and employment services.
Chicago Emergency Housing Assistance Program
Grants for emergency repair or replacement are available to lower income homeowners. Grants may be used for the repair or replacement of the primary heating unit, emergency roof repairs or sealing, and many other energy and heating saving conservation activities.
City Water Light and Power
RELIEF aid will help with utility bills.
ComEd
Power Up will give a one-time energy assistance cash grant of up to $400 to assist families who do not qualify for any other aid. They also have the ComEd Residential Hardship Fund, which offers cash grants of up to $1,000 to offset utility rate increases for people with special circumstances and those facing hardships.

Good Samaritan Initiative
Utility and gas companies offer this charity program to Illinois families. Those experiencing a crisis can get their utility or heating service restored by paying 20 percent or $250 of their remaining unpaid bill balance. To qualify for this aid, utility customers must have account balances that are too high to be covered by the state's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, but the balance must be less than $3,000.

Mid-American Energy Company
I CARE will assist those Illinois families who are living on fixed or low incomes, unemployed, or experiencing a family emergency crisis by helping pay their heating bills or by making their homes more energy efficient.
Nicor Gas
Sharing Program, which is a charity organization in Illinois, will provide one-time annual cash grants to help with bills.

People's Resource Center
This charity offers a wide variety of services, including basic services of clothing, food, and emergency rent, housing assistance. In addition, they will provide literacy education, computer training and access to updated and refurbished computers, job search assistance, training, and art enrichment.
Share the Warmth
Most utility companies, including those in Chicago, participate in this aid program which will provide up to $200 annually in assistance, per household, to customers who are experiencing difficulties paying their electric or gas heating bills.
St. Vincent de Paul Center
Provides quality Child Care for children of Chicago's working families, and they will also provide job training and resources to some.
Wayne-White Counties Electric Cooperative
WORKS is a charity that provides aid for a variety of situations, including utility bills, medical bills, emergency repairs, and other reasons.
