Residents have a number of other options available to them. In addition to these groups and charities that can provide help, information and assistance during your times of need, there are other South Carolina government programs that can provide support.

Meals on Wheels of Greenville
This is a low income, food assistance program that provides a home delivered hot meal service for families and individuals who are not able to prepare their own food or pay for their own groceries. It mainly supports the elderly and others who are confined to their homes. The program will generally cover the entire South Carolina upstate region.

United Ministries
This charity organization provides assistance and life changing opportunities for families and individuals who lack employment skills, education, and job training. It also assists those who are experiencing an emergency, who are homeless, in a financial crisis, and any others who need help in South Carolina.

Operation Round-Up
This assistance program is provided by many South Carolina utility companies. The program will provide low income families and individuals with grants for a variety needs, including clothing, food, shelter, rent, health care, utility bills, and a number of other community services.

Harvest Hope and Lowcountry Food Bank
The Columbia and upstate region is supported by Harvest Hope. Call (803) 254-4432. The coastal and southern part of South Carolina is covered by the Lowcountry Food Bank. Telephone (843) 747-8146. Both of these centers provide food and groceries to pantries and churches in their region, and those centers distribute free food to those who need help.
Sisters of Charity Health System
This charity provide support to non-profits, including grants and advocacy for the poor and low income. The programs they administer do not provide direct assistance to the needy but rather they support other organizations in the state. The main office is in Columbia,

Utility Company Charity Programs
Energy providers in South Carolina such as Duke Energy administer grant programs and other aid. For example, Duke may have free fans as part of Fan-Heat Relief. Other companies, such as Piedmont Gas, run the Share the Warmth program for the less fortunate. Call your utility company and ask about any charity type resources.
Miracle Hill Ministries
Provides shelter, food, and spiritual guidance to the poor and homeless. Social workers will also try to help people become self-sufficient members of society and work with them on employment and other assistance programs.
