Locate charities and aid organizations in North Carolina that can assist with bills. In addition to the organizations below, there are also assistance programs provided by the state government.

Member Cares provides donations to help pay heating bills.

Crisis Assistance Ministry
This charity was created to assist to people in financial crisis. The mission of the organization is to provide assistance and advocacy for North Carolina families in a financial crisis, and help those in need move towards self-sufficiency. 704-371-3000

 

Crisis Control Ministry
This groups goal is to assist people who are facing a crisis and help them meet essential life needs and to become self-sufficient. They strive to assist our individuals and families who face financial hardships. They can help with housing, utility bills, food, rent, and prescription medications, among other aid offered.

 

Dominion North Carolina Power
Energy Share is a heating fuel assistance program that helps pay for home heating bills in North Carolina.

Contact your local community action agency.

 

Duke Power
They provide three types of aid. Share the Warmth which is a heating bill assistance program. Cooling Assistance Program helps pay for hot summer heating bills. And the Fan-Heat Relief Program will provide free fans in the summertime.

Aid is offered from the People Who Care Program, which assists area residents in need with the payment of their electricity bills.

Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry
This charity provides a variety of assistance. GHCCM provides financial assistance and grants to those families who are about to have their utility service cut off. They will also assist with rent payments or mortgage payments when families or individuals are facing eviction. In addition, GHCCM's HealthCare Center provides free pharmacy support and quality health care. The Emergency Food Pantry will also provide meat and bakery items, canned food, basic staples, and dairy items. They also run a thrift store, which offers household items, furniture, clothing, and donated items from area individuals and businesses.

 

Haywood Electric Membership Corporation
Helping Each Member Cope is an assistance program that was designed to assist families or individuals in North Carolina who are experiencing hardships paying energy costs.

Legal AdviceLow and moderate income, senior citizens, immigrants and certain other North Carolina residents can receive free legal consultations.

 

Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation

LREMC Cares consists of member contributions are collected from a charity and distributed to families who are facing an energy bill crisis.

Operation Roundup

Many of the utility and gas companies located through North Carolina participate in charity organization.

Operation Roundup provides assistance and grants to families and individuals who are facing serious financial hardships, which can be either short-term or long-term hardships. The assistance provided can help with a variety of bills, including medical, utility, rent, electric, and more.

Project Helping Hand assists less fortunate families during a crisis situation. Another program, Share the Warmth, will help with heating bills.
